There is no shortage of worthy causes to allocate your resources to this Giving Tuesday. Giving Tuesday was created to change the world through giving and generosity. With so many Non-Profit Organizations in need of generous support, how do you navigate being able to touch the causes that you’re aligned with? After a Thursday’s fill of food and family, Black Friday’s shopping mania, supporting Small Business Saturday and then blowing out your internet (or more likely your wallet) on Cyber Monday, the choices are overwhelming.
Geoscape Solar is guided by our mission: to build a more sustainable future by creating opportunities for commercial and non-profit clients to take advantage of the evolution of green energy and help cool our planet. By fulfilling that mission, we support Non-Profit Organizations who want to go solar all year by giving them the means to do so. This means we provide creative funding for 501c3 organizations (non-profit with tax exempt status) so they can take advantage of commercial solar energy and subsequently have the opportunity to fulfill their own environmental goals. We believe that any organization that cares about being an environmental steward, wants to go solar, and produce their own green energy, should have that opportunity.
The biggest stumbling block for Non-profit organizations is that they don’t have large sums of cash for upfront funding and they are unable to take advantage of the 30% Federal Solar Tax Credit because of their non-profit standing. Things have changed since the passage of the Inflation Reduction Act because Non-Profit Organizations are now eligible for a 30% direct pay credit for the cost of installing their solar energy systems. While this helps their Return on Investment, it doesn’t solve the challenge of how to come up with funding for their green initiatives. Geoscape Solar solves this stumbling block with their exclusive Power Purchase Agreements (PPA) for Non-Profit Organizations. Geoscape Solar’s PPA’s allow a third party to finance the non-profit solar energy system and take the 30% tax credit. The non-profit property remains able to both produce clean energy and pay less for the energy produced. This also allows Non-Profit Organizations to allocate more money towards their missions and goals.
Each of Geoscape Solar’s Non-Profit clients are worthy recipients of funds on Giving Tuesday. These organizations not only have their own important missions to fulfill, but they have all also opted to take on the added responsibility of reducing their carbon footprint by converting to solar energy with Geoscape.
